Burbank had 4 runs cross the plate in the top of the 5th inning with the help of 3 hits. The key at-bat was by Juan Uribe who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he blasted a two-run home run (his 7th of the season). Dart made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Barry Zito(5-6) allowed 6 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Zito got help from Jeremy Affeldt who was credited with his 5th save. Kirk Rueter(4-7) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 7 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings of work. 'We won because we did the little things right.' Wes Davies said after the game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get in close games we don't make mistakes.'
